Steel double bass
I made this in 1995 ish because I
think that the double bass is the most beautiful instrument on Earth
The instrument is made from 26Gauge thin sheet metal and is light enough to
pick up.
It sort of sounds a bit like a double bass and plays like a double bass with
proper bass strings
Being made of steel means that it has the advantage of being really tough...
the sound it makes is extraordinary;
the high notes sound really good and sustained
and the low notes are a bit metallic - as you would expect.
Recently It was used on the sound
track to a film.
This beautiful and completely unique instrument/sculpture is still for sale.
